Fashion Review: Oscars 2017

20:07

Okay so I know the Academy Awards (the Oscars) were a few weeks ago, buuuuuut the fashions were too good/bad not to talk about.
So without further ado, lets get on to the fashions.

DISCLAIMER- I am by no means a "professional clothes reviewer" I am merely someone who is interested in fashion, therefore these are just for fun and just because I personally don't like something doesn't mean it's not fashionable!!!

1. Emma Stone- Givenchy
Winner: Best Actress- La La Land. All photos from Oscars : Getty

Thought I'd start this off on a good note. Like a really good note. Emma Stone is so cool. She can do no wrong. She could wear a bin-bag and I would be like "omg. inspiration. truly. honestly." She is so great because she knows what looks good on her and doesn't follow the generic "sexy" trend. I love her. She really stood out from all of the photos from the red carpet (there was loads, like 80). And, from the looks of it, not many people wore Givenchy on the red carpet either. I love the colour, detail, the length, the whole dress pretty much. I love that she hasn't gone OTT with accessories, it really makes the dress stand out. Overall, I am obsessed with Emma Stone. She looked so beautiful and in a dress like that really did deserve that Oscar.
Duh Winning 10/10

2. Michelle Williams- Louis Vuitton
Nominated Best Supporting Actress- Manchester By the Sea
This is Michelle Williams. Not Michelle the one from Destiny's Child, but the other Michelle Williams, the actress Michelle Williams. I think I like this. It's not like super exciting or anything, but it looks cute. Her hair looks cute, her make up looks cute. So I'd say this is cute.I really like the contrast of the black halter up top and then the beautiful sparkles on the skirt. She looks sad though, I dunno why, but she looks sad. The dress looks a bit long on her, maybe she's short, or maybe that's how it is supposed to look. I'm not sure, I'm not fashion.
I do like this, I think. 8/10

3. Pharrell Williams- Chanel
Nominated Best Picture- Hidden Figures.
Urghhhhhh. Give it to me Bae. I love Pharrell. He takes risks. Men on red carpets are usually sooooo boring. But he always switches it up. I appreciate him. He is wearing like 20 necklaces, which look like they're from a Claire's goody bag (ya know you all bought them). His jacket with the belt and the flower and bow tie shows that men can go to a formal event, wear a suit and still look different. They can still stand out. I love him. Even if people hate it, it's impossible to hate Pharrell.
Love it 10/10

4. Dakota Johnson- Gucci
Dont think she was nominated for anything. Just there for a good time.
Hahahahahahhahaha. I creased so much when I first saw this. But the more I look at it the more I hate it less. Gucci is known, especially recently, for going completely OTT, but this, I just find strange. Can't tell whether its the bow, the shoulder pads or the HUGE Cartier necklace, but for some reason this just doesn't make much sense. The colour is very erm Oscars statue gold, so I guess it fits with the theme? I dunno.
maybe this is good but I just don't understand it. 4/10

5. Felicity Jones- Dior
Presenting Award for Visual Effects
Not gonna lie, had to google who she is (I'm so un-cultured in culture). This good. I think. I think it's pretty and simple. Not sure about the length, whenever I see a dress in this style it makes me think that its too long or too short- like cropped trousers wtf are they. But this is pretty I like it and an extra point for the shoes, those are good shoes.
Good Shoes  6/10

6. Ryan Gosling- Gucci
Nominated Best Actor- La La Land
Oh RyRy. I like this. It's like a chilled out version of Pharrell. He looks smart and like he is at an awards show, which is fitting. The suit looks well made and fits him nicely. I like the frilly nod to Dumb and Dumber. It's not exciting but it's not generic.
solid 8/10

7. Taraji P. Henson- Alberta Ferreti
Nominated Best Picture- Hidden Figures.
Omg. Wtf. This is literally unreal. Channelling a mixture of J-Lo and Angelina Jolie circa 2012. This is classic. So simple, fits amazingly. Love that velvet life. The hair is yes. The make up is yes. The pose yes.
It's a yes from me. 10/10

Angelina Jolie's Leg (2012) Appreciation Break

8. Nicole Kidman- Armani Privè
Nominated Best Supporting Actress- Lion
This is classic Kidman. Predictable but pretty. Dunno about the colour of the dress she looks kinda naked. Or maybe thats the point. She looks nice, but like just boring and predictable. I feel like I've seen her wear the same thing multiple times. It's ok though.
Face looks nice. 6/10
PS- did anyone see the video of her clapping ahahahahahahha. what a strange woman

9. Casey Affleck- Louis Vuitton
Winner Best Actor- Manchester By the Sea
He looks good but boring. Don't really know what to say. He's wearing a suit. It looks nice. I like the black buttons with the white shirt but at the end of the day it's just a suit. Hope the beard is for a film role -_-
Not as good as Pharrell- 7/10

10. Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake - Kaufmanfranco and Tom Ford
Justin: Nominated for Best Original Song- Can't Stop the Feeling! (Trolls)
Jessica looks unreal. I like it all (apart from the thing around her neck). Obsessed with the gold, and all the textures of the pattern. Hair looks beauts and her face is so pretty. I think she looks great. The necklace looks like hair, not so great.
You are pretty 8/10
JT. Yeh okay you're wearing a suit that's cool. You look hot that's cool. But it's a suit. Very Tom Ford, very suit-ish.
It's a very suit-ish suit 7/10

11. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend- Zuhair Murad and Gucci
John: Winner of Best Original Song - Glory (La La Land)
Chrissssssssssssy. Yes! Why is she so cool! I like this a lot. I think it's because I like her a lot. Her twitter is legit the best account, she's so clever and witty and fashion forward. And she's so real, she's 'one of us' (I wish). I like this, the sparkles and the belt are beauts and her hair looks so pretty and simple but really classy.
You're cool be my friend 9/10
John. You look like a boring Pharrell. It's good. I like it. But I think I like it because of your face. It's all cheeky and excitable like you've got a secret that you're not gonna tell.
Tell me all your secrets 8/10

12. Brie Larson- Oscar De La Renta
The one that didn't clap for Casey Affleck
Ok Brie Imma let you finish, BUT Taraji P Henson had the best velvet black dress of ALL TIME. I dunno who you are, but I think this is okay. Your feet look like rectangles, just sayin'. I dont like the top of the dress its makes the shoulders stand out, which is never a good look for anyone, shoulders are the devils work. Hair looks windswept but pretty. I like the velvet and the swirly train. It's not bad, but it's not Taraji.
#rectangles 7/10

13. Halle Berry- Versace
Presenting an award
This is good. It's different to everyone else's outfit and it is well put together. Lovin the asymmetry going on. I love the bottom of the dress better than the top but still, it's so interesting. Her hair is amazing! And she looks so youthful... she's 50!!!!!!
This is Halle Berry 9/10

14. Viggo Mortensen- Dior
Nominated Best Actor- Captain Fantastic
OOOOOOOOH ARAGORN. Is this blue? or is it the camera? Maybe it's grey? But I think it's blue, I'm saying blue. I like this alot. It's not the bog standard black suit and tie, but it doesnt look like Dad going to a business lunch. Ya get me? I like the waistcoat and the contrast of blues. What a little cutie pie.
Silver Fox 8/10

15. Kirsten Dunst- Christian Dior
Nominated Best Picture- Hidden Figures
Kirsten Dunst is still a person?!?! I like this dress, it has pockets, and I like pockets. I read up about this when I googled Kirsten Dunst b/c I totally forgot she existed, and I found out that the dress was originally designed in 1952 for Christian Dior's a/w Haute Couture collection.  I can totally see that as it looks so eclectic and stunning.
I wish I had a dress with pockets. Or a Dior Dress. Or Both 9/10

16. Emma Roberts- Armani Privè
Not nominated for anything I don't think.
Ooooh very Ginger Spice meets Jessica Rabbit meets MICHELLE WILLIAMS (not Michelle from Destiny's Child Michelle from before). This dress is very similar to MW's Louis Vuitton gown. I think it's really nice. The top is beautiful and the bottom is a great contrast. I don't have anything else to say. I like this.
What a Wild Child 8/10

17. Dev Patel- Burberry
Nominated Best Supporting Actor- Lion
Gettin someone did a white suit. I appreciate this. He looks so good. I like him a lot, he was in Skins and now he's nominated for an Oscar, if that isn't goals I don't know what is. The suit looks good, Burberry did a good job there.  His hair looks good and I like the black bow tie.
This is good 8/10

18. Janelle Monae- Elie Saab
Nominated Best Picture- Hidden Figure
This girl is cool. I don't think she's as famous in the UK as she is in USA but I just googled her and on every red carpet she looks so cool and different and really stands out. This is no exception. The dress is so beautiful and intricate and is in the typical delicate Elie Saab style. Her hair looks great. Dress doesn't look comfortable but that's fashion for you.
Cool 10/10

19. Luciana and Matt Damon
Matt Nominated for Best Picture- Manchester By the Sea
I can't find out who either of these are wearing but I thought I'd mention them anyway.
I can't believe Luciana isn't famous/model or anything she is stunning! and this dress is beautiful. She looks so elegant- it's unreal to think she's had 4 children! I love her dress I really do, the top part is so unreal, especially when you look at the photo up close.
Beautiful dress 10/10
MAAAAAAATT DAAAAAMON. I think he's a cool dude, but his wife completely upstages him! His trousers look wayyyyy too long, but he doesn't look BAD.
Okay-ish 6/10

20. Viola Davis- Armani Privè
Winner Best Supporting Actress- Fences
How friggin stylish. I love this. The train is perfect. The colour stands out from everyone else's gold/silver/black theme and I love the off the shoulder/bardot/halter top. Very Justin Bieber 2010 on the hair, but in the best way. This is really beautiful.
JB Chic 10/10

21. Jackie Chan
Winner of an Honorary Oscar for contribution to Film
Holy crap. This is everything. So inspiring. So Jackie Chan. So happy, so chill just perfect. Best accessory is a smile. And his is so cute. Oh and the Pandas. THE PANDAS. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
#KungFuFighting 10/10

I'm sure I missed so many people out but literally there was so many photos and these were just the ones that stood out for me.
Overall, the fashions at this years Academy Awards were pretty solid. There were some unreal outfits and a few that were more controversial. But most people looked good-ish.
